Cookies Policy
The United States Times · Published by The United States Times Company · theunitedstatestimes.com/policies/cookies · Effective October 16, 2026
This policy states exactly what The United States Times plants in your browser. It is short because the answer is short. Every sentence here is kept today.
1. The Finding
1.1. Reading The United States Times sets no cookies. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies — and no equivalent planted through local storage, beacons, fingerprinting, or any other mechanism doing a cookie's work under another name.
1.2. The page arrives, you read it, and nothing of ours remains behind in your browser. That is the whole of what happens.
2. Why the Answer Is This Short
2.1. The Data Terms built the reading lane to collect nothing it does not need, and the lane needs nothing from your browser to serve you a page. A cookie on a reading surface would exist to remember you, and we promised not to try.
3. Signed-In Features
3.1. Reading never requires signing in, as the Access Terms guarantee. Where a publication offers member features under the Subscription Terms, a member who signs in receives a first-party session cookie whose entire job is keeping that member signed in.
3.2. A session cookie here is functional only: it identifies the session you chose to open, it is never used to track reading, profile you, or follow you anywhere, and it is never handed to anyone else.
4. Checkout
4.1. Purchases run through our payment processor on its own surfaces, under the Terms of Sale. What that processor sets in the course of taking a payment is disclosed at the point of checkout, and it does not follow you back into the reading lane.
5. No Banner
5.1. Our pages carry no cookie-consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. The banner industry is an apology for conduct we do not engage in, and we decline to perform the apology.
6. Check Us
6.1. You do not have to take this page's word. Open your browser's developer tools on any page of ours and look: what you find should match this policy exactly.
6.2. A mismatch — any cookie or equivalent on a reading surface that this page does not account for — is a defect, not a policy change. Report it through the publication's published contact channels and it will be removed, with the finding handled under the Correction Terms.
7. If This Ever Changes
7.1. Any cookie beyond this page's account is a material adverse change: it takes effect no earlier than thirty days after a dated notice, as the Terms of Use require, and this page is rewritten to describe it before the first such cookie is ever set — never after, never quietly.
7.2. Until this page says otherwise, the answer remains Section 1, and Section 6 is how you hold us to it.
8. The Record of This Policy
8.1. This policy is kept in dated versions at its address, so what your browser was promised on any given day can always be checked.
This policy is one of the Policies this publication keeps.
